Psalm 2

Now, therefore, O kings, be wise,

be warned, O rulers of the earth.

Serve the Lord with fear,

and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the son,

lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,

for his wrath is quickly kindled.

Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

Psalm 2:10-12

God has all authority. He reigns over all powers, governments, rulers, and kingdoms. All of which will eventually bow down to King Jesus (Psalm 72:11). The psalmist is elevating the authority of Christ, and makes him out to be a powerful individual. An individual that should be feared and respected. An individual that has authority over your life and breath. This psalm is a picture of the holy and fearful authority that is our God. This illustration of God's supremacy is contrasted by the last verse: "Blessed are those who take refuge in Him." (v.3) There is a grace for those who surrender themselves to God and take rest in Him. God has all power and authority; He has the right to judge me in any way. He has every right to send our sinful souls to Hell, yet, God still chose to extend to all of humanity the most extravagant grace. God sent His son, Jesus, to be crucified. Jesus shed his own blood for us to become righteous and allows us to have a personal connection with God, a connection that was lost due to sin. The God of all authority submitted Himself to earthly powers, even though the earthly powers would not submit to Him. He did not sacrifice Himself so we would have to surrender to Him, but that we would have the choice of surrender. This is the ultimate picture of Grace

Grace and peace be with you.
